This year, Jakarta Cleanliness Department is going to spend Rp 41 billion to buy three heavy equipments type amphibian. By so, it is hoped able to be a solution in dredging trash at rivers in Jakarta that have shallow condition.

We have included funds for heavy equipment purchase in e-catalog this year

"We have included funds for heavy equipment purchase in e-catalog this year," said Budi Karya, Head of Technical Management Unit (UPT) for Jakarta Cleanliness Department, Friday (4/18).

At this time, Karya added, three heavy equipments will be imported from Malaysia. The equipment is deemed more flexible than backhoe and excavator. "The equipment is different with backhoe and excavator, where they cannot reach to the shallow rivers," he explained.

Next Week, E-Catalog System Launched

He uttered, the amphibian equipment could optimally transport trash and mud that has settled in the river over the decades. "This condition has been ongoing since ten years. It's one of the factors that cause silting up," he expressed.

According to Karya, those equipments are planned to be operated in West Flood Canal (KBB) in front of Season City, Mookevart River and Lego Tirem River. They were chosen due to its condition is most severe in Jakarta.

"We actually need five equipments. That's why we buy three units beforehand to be operated in such areas," he explained.
